How much does something like this cost? It’s a question we get often, and it’s a frequent companion to the question we covered last week – how much is a 1 carat diamond? And, much like last week’s question, this week’s has a…flexible answer. It’s hard to answer “how much does something like this cost” because we can really only tell you how much something exactly like “this” – actually, literally “this” costs.

How much ARE these? Well…which one?

Take, for example, this beautiful diamond pendant from Tacori’s Encore collection (a line specifically designed to match beautiful Tacori engagement rings!) It starts at  $1,380, so that is how much something “like” it costs. But if you choose to replace the center Cubic Zirconia with a diamond, you’ll expand your budget – and the exact diamond you choose will affect the bottom line enormously.

Alternatively, let’s say you saw it on Instagram, and immediately fell in love. You DM us to ask “how much does something like this cost?” And we, because of our commitment to price transparency, immediately tell you it starts at $1,380 and we send you the link. If $1,380 is way over budget for you, you might think “Oh well” and move on, and we might never have the opportunity to show you this Gabriel & Co pendant. Which is a different designer, different metal, different style, but still might be enough “like” the Tacori pendant to make you fall in love – and at $520, it’s a very different story.

And the lovely – but a lot less expensive – Gabriel version.

Again, the choice of center stone – precious gem, diamond alternative, or an actual diamond – will change your budget drastically. If you’re shopping for diamond earrings, something “like” a pair of 1 carat total weight studs can cost $3,295 or they could cost $1,695 – it all depends on the diamonds.

Something “like” this is different for every client, and it’s our job to find just the piece you’re looking for that suits your individual budget. We do it every day, and we explain the nuances in jewelry pricing – especially diamond pricing – to clients all the time. No matter what you’re shopping for, it’s always a great idea to start with your budget in mind first. Regardless of what it is, we’ll work with you. If you ask how much something like this is, and get a number that makes you uncomfortable, let us know! First, see if there’s anything similar that’s closer to your budget. And then, if nothing compares to the piece you fell in love with, and it’s juuuust outside your budget, ask us about financing. We have several options for online financing and in-store financing for every single gorgeous piece at both RLJ and DBRL.
