There are no batteries with this ring so there is no need to charge. Simply wear the ring and use the software that comes with it. The ring utilizes NFC technology. This stands for near field communication. This is why you will need to come into contact with the device that you want to share with.

What All Can it Do?

The first thing people notice with this is that it can unlock your phone. All you will have to do is touch the back with your hand open and the correct side facing the back of the phone. However, this technique can also be used to unlock your door or other objects you have that use NFC technology. On top of this, you will be able to use the ring to share data with others. This could be as simple as your contact information or something more advanced, such as documents and photos. You can decide what you share. The software that comes with the ring is open source which means that you can find other ways of using the ring that the program does not already recognize. This will allow you to get the experience you want out of the ring.

Where You Can Buy One

Currently this ring is still in the production phase. While you can buy the ring with a pledge to support the creator, John McLear on Kickstarter, do not expect it to be sent out right away. This is why many people think that this ring will eventually be taken over by Google as they have more resources and manpower to use to accomplish tasks such as this.

Is it Worth it?

Since it has not been released there is no way to tell how well it will actually work. There are videos where you can see the ring in action. This is exciting as it is wearable technology that can make lives easier. However, if you want to be on the safe side, it may be best to allow this technology to come out and work out any bugs it may have before you purchase it and potentially put your information at risk.
