Great Gatsby Costumes Designed by Prada
The 1920’s was a fascinating time in history. It was filled with mystery, intrigue and suspense. The styles associated with that historical era have resurfaced in the modern day trends of high end fashion. Recreating a part of history and making it come to live on the screen is a task that clothing and jewelry designers cannot pass up.
Prada and Miu Miu has come together to design more than 40 gowns and dresses for the upcoming movie, The Great Gatsby. Among the selection of costumes are some dazzling Italian style evening dresses which are said to have been hand picked by Catherine Martin, the wife of film producer Baz Luhrman.
Fans and spectators are sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for the unveiling of the infamous costumes. One critic says that everything she (Miuccia) touches turns to pure gold. This year she was the honoree of MET Gala.
Miuccia is responsible for introducing the brothel creepers and the banana printed dress. Everyone is excited about the new line of costumes and is anxiously waiting the unveiling. Although, the movie was set to open at the end of the year, a turn of events has set the date back until the mid summer of 2013.
Tiffany may be the designer for the jewelry but Prada is the mastermind behind creating the costumes.
When two unique and powerful talents come together they create nothing less than true masterpieces.
The postponement of the great Gatsby by Baz Luhrman has everyone feeling frustrated and let down. Now that we know Prada is taking charge of the designs the let down is somewhat lighter. Critics are wondering what new designs Miuccia will pull out of the closet. Whatever it is they know they will not be disappointed.
