Boodles, the British jeweler with our favorite name, is currently celebrating friend-of-the-brand, London’s The Savoy Hotel. The posh London hotel is celebrating its 125th anniversary, and Boodles isn’t the type to let such a big birthday pass without a gift – to jewelry admirers, that is.
The Savoy & Boodles have a partnership, with one of Boddles’ London boutiques located in the hotel. And like any good partner, they know the best birthday gifts can be measured in carats. Boodles has designed a one-of-a-kind cocktail ring, featuring a huge emerald, to commemorate the milestone.
The Savoy was founded by Richard D’Oyly Carte in 1889 as “the first purpose-built deluxe hotel in London,” and has continued with a century plus of excellence and luxury. The hotel recently underwent renovations to bring it into the 21st century with aplomb, and its sleek, modern logo proves it’s got staying power. The color of choice in said logo – not to mention the general palette of the hotel? A rich and distinct emerald green.
So when Boodles decided to craft a commemorative cocktail ring, emerald was the way to go. Specifically, an exquisite 11.49 carat Colombian emerald selected by designer Lorna Shaw. Shaw drew inspiration from the hotel’s grand facade and architecture to design the gold and diamond setting. The patterns mimic the hotel’s famous sign; the pairs of invisibly set diamond baguettes, each enclosed in a gold frame, are reminiscent of the hotel’s brickwork.
Managing director of Boodles, Michael Wainright, explained: “We are delighted to be collaborating with The Savoy for its 125th anniversary through the creation of this beautiful piece. The hotel is such a wonderfully British institution and we are proud to be working with them.”
The ring, on display now at Boodles in The Savoy, will remain open for public ogling through September 6th.
