If you were asked to create something to celebrate and advertise Magnum’s new Gold ice cream bar, a confection of vanilla ice cream with sea salt caramel swirled in the silkiness and dipped into a luxurious double layered Belgian Milk Chocolate coating that gleams golden deliciousness what would you come up with?
Celebrity designer Zac Posen came up with a gown made of over 10,000 24k gold hand-hammered sequins. It looks like golden melting ice cream flowing down the female form. It only took him two weeks! There are five sizes of delicate discs sewn to the sleeveless gown with a special technique that emphasizes shape and curve from the plunging neckline to the train flowing along the floor. It is stunning and decadent and completely over the top.
It’s also the only one of its kind. It will be worn by Caroline Correa in Magnum’s short film “As Good As Gold” and shown at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 18. After that, it might come up for sale; do you have 1.5 million dollars? That’s how much it costs. A bargain for a dress made of 24k gold!
