Over the past few months, you may have heard that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes (who were affectionately known as “TomKat”) have divorced. The news allegedly came as a surprise to Cruise that his now former wife of six years and mother to six-year-old Suri wanted out. You may have heard something about it, no? All kidding aside, the Holmes-Cruise split has been finalized – and Katie Holmes divorce settlement of $4.8 million per year from Cruise for child support over the next four years isn’t all that she’s getting in the settlement. No, she’ll get to keep millions of dollars worth of designer handbags and jewelry that she accumulated over their courtship. In other words, Katie is keeping her bling. For instance, those $500,000 diamond earrings that Holmes received as a birthday present from Cruise one year? Those are hers. Those custom designed pieces? Yeah, she’ll hang onto those too. Other notable items that the Dawson’s Creek and Batman Begins star will hang onto includes several custom Hermes Birkin handbags – including an over sized red-colored one that she’s often seen around town with – as well as Hermes Kelly branded handbags. According to Radar Online, it’s estimated that Cruise gave Holmes as many as 10 designer handbags over the span of their relationship, some of which likely cost upwards of $50,000. And Holmes will keep them all, ensuring that she’s still very wealthy in a fashion sense, despite what a prenuptial agreement dictated otherwise in terms of other monetary value.
Yes, Holmes will get money from child support, but her fashion items might be the richest part of the divorce settlement. It’s proof that while Tom Cruise doesn’t have much good luck with marriage (just ask Holmes, Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman), he makes up for it in other, potentially more valuable, ways.
