Twin Tuesday – 4 Carat Diamond Earrings

One of the best things about the advent of the internet age is the ability to shop around. Of course, savvy customers have been comparing prices for years. But with the help of your keyboard and a little dedication, you’re practically guaranteed to get the most bang for your buck. This is especially true in the jewelry world. When it comes to fine jewelry, some pieces are so popular they spawn plenty of look alikes – this is a great thing for our customers. Should you fall in love with a certain style, you can almost always replicate it – or better yet, find its twin – for less. Today’s 4 carat diamond earrings are no exception. Let’s take a look at both beautiful pairs.

This fabulous pair of round brilliant diamond drop earrings is available at M.S. Rau Antiques for $228,000. Why the high price? Primarily it’s because these GIA certified diamonds are E color – the 2nd best grade in the colorless diamond bracket. That absence of color commands a high price, as do the diamonds’ great clarity rating (VS) and carat weight (4.07 ctw). However, a pair of earrings with the same clarity grade and even more carats is about 1/4th of that price here in our Boca Raton jewelry store (and in our online boutique, of course).

These diamonds also are a gorgeous VS clarity, but weigh 5.05 carats total. Their color grade, K, falls in the near colorless range, saving you thousands of dollars. Still difficult to detect with the untrained eye, the color on these diamonds is hardly offensive. Rather, it gives them more of a warm glow. Add to this the fact that they’re earrings (rather than a large diamond ring, which would show the color more prominently). They’re also European cut, which is the cut that predates the modern round brilliant cut, often seen in vintage diamonds. This cut is just as beautiful, though a different look, and doesn’t command as much from an investment/resale standpoint. But from the standpoint of looking gorgeous on two large diamonds? Just fine. They’re also set in 14kt white gold, compared to the other pair’s 18kt, saving you even more. The grand total? $52,995. This is a perfect example of prioritizing your 4 C’s wishlist to stretch your budget the most!
