Audemars Piguet Wins $9.8 Million

Audemars Piguet Wins $9.8 Million

What happens when a major manufacturer of jewelry infringes upon the trademark rights of another company? It’s simple. The major manufacturer ends up in trouble. And so this was the case with the Swiss Watch International company. The manufacturer was found in direct violation of trademark rights on its Swiss Legend Trimix Diver piece of jewelry. To keep things basic, the piece was strikingly similar to the Royal Oak design made by another company, and because of this, Audemars Piguet won the case that was brought against the Swiss Watch International company.

Audemars Piguet WIns Lawsuit Against Knockoffs

Real Deal on the Left

What did Audemars Piguet win? Lots of money! In fact, Piguet was awarded all of the profits that the Swiss Watch International company earned off of the Legend Trimix Diver timepiece. In addition, Piguet was able to apply to gain back the attorney’s fees costs that were endured as a result of filing the case.

You probably haven’t found yourself directly involved in the case brought against the Swiss Watch International company, however, whether it be the Royal Oak timepiece or the Swiss Legend Trimix timepiece that you own, it is of the utmost importance that you take proper care of your jewelry. Let’s take a look at how you can take care your beloved jewelry.

Crystal

If you notice that the crystal face on your watch has become scratched or broken, don’t try to fix the issue yourself. Instead, you need a professional jeweler to replace the crystal. Most times, you can have the crystal replaced for around $50; however, higher-end pieces of jewelry tend to be a bit more costly to repair than inexpensive pieces.

Avoid Water

Even if your piece of jewelry is water resistant, it’s best to steer clear of getting your watch wet. When doing dishes, taking a shower or going swimming, simply remove your watch and put it in a safe place.

Avoid Shocks

Watches aren’t meant to be banged against hard surfaces. You need to do all that you can to ensure your watch doesn’t endure shocks.

Store the Watch Safely

When you store your watch, make sure it’s in a safe place. Keep it out of the reach of children. In addition, make sure that it won’t be banging up against other pieces of jewelry.

Have It Cleaned Regularly

You may feel compelled to clean your watch yourself, and while this is completely OK if you know what you are doing, you should also take it to a professional jeweler on a regular basis. In doing this, you can rest assured that your watch will be undergoing the cleaning that it needs to maintain its beauty.

Keep Away from Substances

You need to keep your watch away from harsh substances and chemicals; this includes mercury, hairspray, detergents, gases, perfumes and more.

Wear Your Watch Minimally

One of the best things you can do to take proper care of your watch is to wear it as little as possible when performing rough tasks. This doesn’t mean you can’t wear it on a daily basis, but when you do, make sure it’s the last thing you put on before walking out the door and the first thing you remove once you get back home.
