The First Jewelry Muse of France: the Bulgari Carla Bruni-Inspired Line
Everyone knows the one-time First Lady of France, Carla Bruni Sarkozy, started her career as a fashion model. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that she should end up the motivating muse to jewelry giant Bulgari. Still, you may find it stunning just how many pieces ended up in this breathtaking collection. As debuted at a gala attended by some of Hollywood’s most notable royalty, the presentation of the Diva Collection was a wild success. Here are all the enchanting details.
A Vintage Revelation
The designers were clearly feeling inspired; they churned out a prolific 200 pieces for this collection. The staggering number is impressive, but not as stunning as the quality of the imaginative, one-of-a-kind designs. Models were dressed up to look like vintage celebrities, such as Marilyn Monroe, Ava Gardner and Sophia Loren, to further underscore the tribute to divas of the Dolce Vita era of the 1950s and 60s. Though the influence was rooted in the past, the result was undeniably fresh and modern.
Not Just For Ladies
The Bulgari collection’s most eye-catching pieces were of course the gem-encrusted jewels on the necklaces, earrings and bangles. But, those weren’t the only accessories created for this project. Watches, bags and eyewear were also developed, though they may prove as out of reach financially for some as the precious stones.
A Venue of Equal Distinction
The jewels sparkled and the celebrities posed, but there was another honored guest at this soiree, the location. Held in the gardens of the palace Abbazia La Cervara in Portofino, Italy, the post-show dinner included musical accompaniment from none other than Diana Ross. But, it was arguably the beauty of the venue that stole many guests’ hearts.
Bulgari and Carla Bruni Sarkozy clearly make an excellent team. With any luck, this fashionable duo will continue to make sweet music, and stunning accessories.
