And it’s also why we specifically chose designers who made customization easier than falling in love with their stunning designs. Our designers’ ability to customize paired with our own in-house custom jewelry design means that we can offer rings at every point on the customization spectrum. Whether you want a small tweak, like swapping a round brilliant center stone for a princess cut, or you want to design the whole thing from scratch, we’ve got you covered.
What does custom jewelry design look like at DBRL? It’s different for each of our engagement ring designers (you can read more about Tacori here) but the in-house designers take the same path whether they’re designing something like this:

You’ll meet with one of our expert designers for an initial consultation. Here in our stunning, state-of-the-art Boca Raton showroom you’ll pore over your ideas and inspiration while we pour you a local craft beer. We encourage you to bring inspiration, your own ideas, images of other rings you’d like, and any noted for special details. Then our jewelry designer will create a sketch. You can add or remove details at this stage, then we talk about materials: the stones and metal that will make your beautiful piece.
Once we’ve figured out the cost of the raw materials, we’ll create a quote for you within your budget. Yes, within YOUR budget – custom jewelry isn’t just for those with an unlimited budget! Once you approve this quote, you’ll put down an initial deposit and this takes us to phase two: CAD!

No, we aren’t talking about a roguish Jane Austen brute. We mean a computer aided design. This is a digital 3D model that our master jeweler will review with you to make sure the piece is everything you dream of. It also gives him a guide to place every detail exactly where it should be. After that, we’ll create a physical wax model so you can see the size, shape, and structure of your piece – this is the last stop for any changes!
Finally, your piece is cast, and then goes under scrutiny from you, your expert jewelry designer, our master jeweler, and even your Mother-in-Law if you want to be really thorough. We ensure that everything about your custom jewelry design is picture perfect.
The total timeframe for this process, from initial concept to “can’t-take-your-eyes-off-it.” is anywhere from 2-6 weeks, depending on the intricacy of design and total payment. Custom jewelry design is faster, less expensive, and easier than most people imagine, and we’re so happy to see our clientele taking advantage of our in-house custom jewelry design more and more often.
