The Most Expensive Lamborghini No One Will Ever Drive
Lamborghinis are known to be the fastest, ingeniously designed, and most expensive cars in the world. While the “average” Lambo sells for about $250,000-$500,000 U.S. dollars, these European sports cars may have finally been outmatched, and by by a model car no less.
Going for the Gold
To be fair this isn’t just any model car. and it may come to no surprise that the world’s most expensive model car is also a Lambo.
This isn’t your dad’s model car, having been crafted from a single 500g solid block of gold. With current gold prices at about $1300, the block alone costs more than $20,000 dollars alone. Once you factor in the work and design that goes into making a model car like this, the price goes up, up, up.
This golden microcosm of a car is 25 inches long and is a 22-carat prototype on display at the Lamborghini showroom in Dubai.
The Guinness Book of Records is already licking its lips to see what new and audacious records can be broken by this amber mini-sports car. Many experts speculate that it will go down in the books as the world’s most expensive model car, the world’s most secure showcase as well as the the world’s most luxurious logo. Not too shabby for a car you can’t even park in your garage.
The prototype model car will be on display at the Dubai Motor Show in November and will make its way to Abu Dhabi for its world tour. That’s right, this amber nugget of design has its own tour.
Be sure to keep in mind that this is only a prototype. When the final version is complete it will be adorned with 2.9 million U.S. dollars worth of precious metals and gems, complete with encrusted seats and headlights that will have the stones woven into the fabric.
For those of your that prefer pearly grey metals, you will be delighted to find out that the rims, entire interior, including the cockpit, seats, and steering wheel are all made from platinum. It is not known yet what precious gems will grace the Italian-inspired model car.
The Story Behind the Metal
The model was built by in Germany by acclaimed artist and car enthusiast Robert Wilhelm Gulpen, who based the model car on the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4. The model car may be auctioned to the public, but might also might not make it to the auction house if someone can meet the asking price beforehand. And it’s not all for glitz and glamour, as $650,000 will be reserved for charity.
The asking price might set you back a few bucks at just Dh26,7 million. For that money you might want to consider buying 20 life-sized Lamborghini’s instead. Just a thought.
Well when all is said and done at the very least there will be a whole new way for someone to show off their new Lamborghini. And as if owning a Lamborghini wasn’t decadent enough, now they can get their Lambo in gold. Quite Literally.
