2015 Met Gala Best Dressed
Last night’s Met Gala, themed “China: Through the Looking Glass” brought out a wide variety of fashion choices. There are always the celebs who completely ignore the theme – though not quite as many as the Punk theme. There are the celebs who show up in the wrong theme (still love you Katy Perry.) And there are the celebs who manage to skew offensive. But our ladies did none of the above. Below, our favorite looks – including both jewelry and gowns – from the 2015 Met Ball.
Zendaya Coleman in Fausto Puglisi
Zendaya stunned in a mullet dress done very, very right – which is always tricky to pull off. She used the lucky color red (lots of red in our top 10!) and a beautiful graphic pattern in addition to silk embroidered with suns to represent the theme of the gala. But it’s her accessories that take this look over the edge.
Stylist Law Roach carried the sunburst theme into her incredible headdress and cuffs, and Zendaya piled on the cocktail rings (you know we love a ring party.) She was perfection and our favorite on the red carpet.
Lizzy Caplan in Donna Karan
Lizzy took the other popular route on the red carpet last night – pastel silks. This Donna Karan gown is perfectly draped and embellished with just the right amount of pale gold fringe and beading. Those amazing gold fringe earrings are Jack Vartanian, and her ruby ring is by Carla Amorim, all capped off with an Edie Parker clutch.
Jessica Hart in Valentino
Jessica Hart, one of our lovely clients, made our jaws drop in her perfect Valentino gown. More red, but the Mandarin collar, geometric beaded embroidery, and full ball gown skirt made her stand out on a very red red carpet. Her stunning ruby fan earrings by Sutra mirrored the pattern on her gown, and the gold Carrera y Carrera dome ring she chose added even more richness to the look.
Emily Blunt in Prada
Emily’s Prada ensemble demonstrated the cape trend that swept the red carpet, and the pale blue silk contrasts beautifully with the navy blue embroidered cape. Raspberry red lips added a beautiful pop of brightness to her face, with hair swept back to show off her amazing sapphire and diamond earrings – no confirmation yet whether they’re Cindy Chao (spotted on multiple celebs) or Anna Hu (favorite of Gwyneth Paltrow and worn by Uma Thurman this year.)
Fan BingBing
Fan didn’t accessorize with much jewelry – why would you when your entire look is gilded? She looked incredible in a molten gold gown and intricately patterned and embroidered cape by Michael Kors. Her delicate gold chandelier earrings are Chopard.
Lily Aldridge in Carolina Herrera
It’s rare that Lily Aldridge doesn’t make our best dressed list. And her fitted, structured ruffle gown by Carolina Herrera was a favorite – but those earrings sealed the deal. No details yet from Fred Leighton, but they look like carved jade, diamond and platinum.
Reese Witherspoon in Jason Wu
Reese’s dress was conservative, though it was red. She looked perfectly Oscar-Ready, which is never a bad thing – but the Met Gala is typically a red carpet that demands more outlandish gowns and a little risk taking. Nevertheless, we can’t fault her amazing Tiffany & Co. jewelry. The bracelet, necklace and emerald cut earrings totaled $112,000 and are all from Tiffany’s new Skyscraper line.
Helen Mirren
Dame Helen Mirren can do no wrong, and the Met Gala is no exception. She was radiant in a red laser cut Dolce & Gabbana gown, a red lip, and over the top red and gold super-sized earrings. We are still searching desperately to find the genius who designed them & will update.
Jourdan Dunn in Burberry
More red, more laser cut – we know what we like. And Jourdan served up a very sexy take on the lucky color, with an incredible pair of huge emerald earrings to top off the look. No credit to her jeweler just yet, but given their past relationship, the size of those emeralds, and the distinctly glamorous style, we’d bet they’re Lorraine Schwartz.
Bee Shaffer in Alexander McQueen
Finally, the daughter of Anna Wintour, Ms. Bee Shaffer. She wowed in an elegant and rich gown from Alexander McQueen, with a sweeping silk embroidered train. A delicate pair of earrings and a diamond and ruby ring.
