The Jewel of Pangaea: The World’s Most Expensive Cocktail
It’s Thirsty Thursday and we’re starting early – to the tune of $26 grand!
Singapore’s Pangaea Lounge offers the ultimate and lavish experience to a select clientele. The lounge has joined forces with renowned Mouawad’s jewelers to produce a singular cocktail. Known as the “Jewel of Pangaea,” it carries an amazing price tag of $26,000.
Ethan Leslie Leong, a gifted and award winning mixologist, is the creator of the spectacular libation. After six months of developing and perfecting the drink, he was ready to present the astounding results of his labors. Of only the highest caliber ingredients, the cocktail features 1985 Vintage Krug champagne, Richard Henessey cognac that has been infused with flakes of gold, a unique raw sugar cube infused with hickory smoke, Jerry Bitters, and as a garnish, the piece de résistance, a one-carat triple X diamond. A triple X diamond is a superior stone with exemplary polish, symmetry, and cut.
Ms. Sabrina Ault, owner and director of the exclusive lounge was fortunate enough to be the first person to sample the “Jewel.” She praised the drink and said she believed it epitomized the spirit of the lounge. The cocktail is so exclusive, there are only five available.
This is not Mouawad’s first venture into the sumptuous and unconventional. They are also responsible for a diamond Snow White watch that is worth 6.8 million dollars and a diamond purse, referred to as the 1001 Nights Diamond Purse. The purse was entered into the Guinness Book of Records as the most expensive handbag in the world, and retailed for 3.8 million dollars. It is not surprising, then, that these two elite establishments would join forces to create a cocktail that defies explanation.
