Pet Diamonds Fetch Quite a Price
They say diamonds last forever. Well now a Pennsylvania company is creating a way for you to have your dog stay with you forever, or at least a part of your pooch.
You see, DNA2Diamonds creates man-made, manufactured diamonds in part, using the hair or ashes of your departed dog. The company says their manufactured diamonds are even eco-friendly. They say the diamonds using your pets DNA are “physically, chemically and optically identical to earth-mined diamonds”. The company goes on to state however, that your doggie in a diamond costs significantly less than those that are natural.
While the company is located in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, the diamonds are actually manufactured in a factory in St. Petersburg, Russia. Not on does Fido get to be kept remembered forever in a diamond, he gets a world-wide trip in the process.
It doesn’t stop there either. You even get to choose your diamond’s color, cut and size, and can add a laser engraving to the stone. The company offers the color options of a blue diamond, red, yellow, white, green and a “cognac” color. They also offer a princess cut, as well as cuts that are brilliant and radiant.
DNA2Diamonds offers these diamonds in sizes ranging from a quarter-carat to a whopping 2 carats. While they promote that they are less expensive than natural stones it doesn’t necessarily make them cheap. Their least expensive offering is a ¼ carat, cognac colored, brilliant cut stone for $2,695. Want to go big time? They offer a 2 carat, cognac colored, radiant cut for just under $17,000. You can even pay with PayPal.
Of course they don’t limit their creations to using the hair or ashes of dogs. Any pet, and in fact any DNA can be made into an everlasting diamond, including a human loved one.
So, what do you think? Is having a piece of jewelry made in part from your pet’s or (gulp) human loved one creepy or adorable?
