Watch of the Week: The Rolex Day Date President
This week’s featured watch has a timely name. With the countdown to the election growing smaller every day, the political atmosphere is everywhere, and that includes here at Raymond Lee Jewelers! Whether we’re debating which First Lady contender has the better jewelry style, or we’re diligently researching I.D. for any of Mitt Romney’s watches, we’ve got our attention tuned to the 2012 election.
And with all the talk of the presidency, we can’t help admiring one of our all time favorite presidents – the Rolex Day Date.
The Day Date president, or presidential Day Date, is a Day Date with a specific bracelet design. Presidents like Gerald Ford, Dwight Eisenhower, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, George Bush, and Jimmy Carter have all proudly worn Rolex, so perhaps that’s where the name originated.
Arguable the most famous Rolex President sold at auction in 2005. This Day Date belonged to JFK, and had inscribed on the back of the case “Jack, with love as always from Marilyn, May 29th, 1962.” This Marilyn character never signed her last name, so the world will never know just who generously gifted this Rolex.
The President bracelet features thoroughly considered comfort for its wearer. A concealed crown clasp secures the Day Date President to its wearers wrist, while the elegant bracelet leads seamlessly to the Day Date’s elegant case and dial.
Much like our candidates, not all Day Dates can be Presidents. But we think any of our selection is worth a vote.
