Scarlett Johansson Engaged!

Scarlett Johansson Engaged!

Scarlett Johansson Engaged to Romain Dauriac

The blonde bombshell has been promoting her latest film Under the Skin in Venice at the Venice Film Festival for the last week, looking fabulous on every red carpet where she’s spotted. And last night, Scarlett showed up positively glowing in a black, curve hugging Versace dress.

Typically at awards shows you see the starlets accessorize a necklace like this with nothing but the body bronzer on their decolletage. In Europe though? It’s a different story; much like Chopard reigns supreme at Cannes, Bvlgari guards its turf in Venezia, and ScarJo payed homage to Italy by wearing its foremost jeweler in candy coated technicolor, no less. When in Venice, do as the Romans do.

The necklace is a stunning array of emeralds, sapphires and rubies from the high jewelry collection, while the earrings are from the Bulgari Flora collection, per Bulgari’s press team. Note the glaringly obvious missing ring credit! Even without the claim on the ring, there are several hints that practically confirm Scarlett is engaged, even without her team’s official acknowledgement. One: when playing Cinderella for the evening, we like to pile on the earrings, necklaces, bangles, pins, hey even cocktail rings. But we’ve never borrowed an engagement ring, nor any diamond ring to wear on that finger. Recent memory from awards season tells us that the stars don’t either. Two: Scarlett is not the type to bring just any red carpet escort. Romain has been on her arm, in photos, for the entirety of the festival. Three: look at that smile! But you know, we’d be smiling too if we were rocking that Art Deco style engagement ring.

The ring, which  might be actually vintage, is a large, shield type oval ring with sculpted scalloped edges containing a large round bezel set diamond in its center. Multiple accent diamond surround the main stone for a dazzling impact of sparkle from the base of the finger to the first knuckle. While the ring still makes us gasp audibly, it’s an incredibly tasteful approach to the BAER (Hollywood term we coined for Big [take-a-wild-guess] Engagement Ring) as seen on the likes of Jennifer Aniston and Kim Kardashian. If we had to randomly guess the jeweler we’d say Lorraine Schwartz, with Leighton as the runner up. It looks like platinum, and it looks 100 billion percent fabulous. This will be Scarlett’s second marriage if she is in fact engaged (we’re hedging out bets on this one, it’s all but certain). The first marriage was of course to Ryan Reynolds, who recently wed one Blake Lively, who rocks a massive oval rock. Not that it’s a competition, but we can’t wait to see how Scarlett’s stacks up – if it’s a face off between a huge oval diamond and an Art Deco diamond ring (or even art deco style engagement ring) we really don’t know how we’d choose a favorite!
