Watch of the Week: The Rolex Daytona Paul Newman Dial
This week’s featured watch is the iconic Rolex Daytona Paul Newman dial. Renowned by many as the ultimate vintage watch, a vintage Daytona isn’t the only way to go – you can also build a solid watch collection by adding a pre owned Rolex Daytona Paul Newman. The Daytona is a descendent of the Rolex Cosmograph, Rolex’s departure from its bread and butter maritime watches like the Sea Dweller and Submariner. The Cosmograph’s debut in the 60’s was thanks to Space fever (as its name would suggest) the Daytona and Paul Newman additions to the name are thanks to the actor’s affinity for both racing and Rolex.
This pre owned Rolex Daytona 116528 shines in 18kt yellow gold on both its 40mm case and its Oyster bracelet. A glossy black enamel dial provides an inky background to gold subdials. The watch’s engraved tachymeter bezel can measure speeds up to 400 unites (miles or kilometers) per hour, making it perfect for clocking in those laps. Or, if you aren’t a professional racer (or hobbyist), the watch also happens to be suited perfectly to showing off a supreme luxury timepiece.
