Watch of The Week: No Contest for our Piaget Polo Chronograph
This week there’s no doubt in our minds which watch is the winner – it’s our new Piaget Polo Chronograph! With a pristine white gold case and white dial contrasting sharply against a leather strap, it’s crystal clear this watch is a beauty.
The watch’s applied index markers contrast again (sense a theme here?) with the black second hands and subdial hands (and the markers on the subdials themselves). With a small seconds, minutes counter, dual timezone and a wide date window at 12, this sporty watch doesn’t lose any of its luxury traits.
A “P” emblazoned crown and blocky pushers are a nice alternative to the all to familiar Rolex model (or the likewise ubiquitous Audemars look), the Polo Chrono again manages to differentiate itself. This side view also shows you the slim, 10mm profile of the watch. Designed as much for style as it is for comfort, this watch doesn’t sacrifice anything.
This shot of the sultry black gator strap and white gold clasp also gives you a glimpse of the skeleton case back, which houses…
An impressive Caliber 880P self-winding mechanical movement with 50 hour power-reserve. The 880 Caliber (in-house Piaget movement) boasts a column wheel and vertical coupling-clutch, a flyback function, and a Piaget-coat-of-arms-emblazoned oscillating weight. Power, and beauty, much like the namesake sport of this gorgeous watch. It retails for $35,000, but this barely used watch is only $27995 at Raymond Lee Jewelers!
