Our Favorite Oscar Jewelry!

Our Favorite Oscar Jewelry!

Last night we tuned in to the longest red carpet/Oscars in history! At least that’s how it felt. While we had our fellow jewelry lovers to Twitter commiserate with, we were left wondering, constantly, where the star power was. Where were the era-defining gowns? Where was the spark? Where were Angelina and Brad? And once the show started, Seth MacFarlane did his best to jazz up a show with forgone conclusions in every major category, but it felt a little off. Luckily, the Oscar jewelry was the one area in which we weren’t disappointed. Yes, we would have liked some more color (our sapphire wish never came true). But when we compared what we got to what we wanted, really we were pretty satisfied by the red carpet jewels! When we actually have a tough time narrowing down our first place choices, it’s always a good sign. We ultimately had to restrict our jewelry picks to those actress’s who really wow-ed us with their entire jewelry look, not just one amazing standout piece (trust, we were tempted by Octavia Spencer’s earrings, Rashida Jones’ bracelets and Kerry Washington’s incredible 9 carat Old European cut diamond ring.) Check out our top 5 after the jump!

5.  Charlize Theron

All we wanted in the bracelet department was less of an arm party situation and more antique diamond bracelets – thick ones. Charlize took our request with a grain of salt and threw herself a Harry Wintson arm party made exclusively of vintage diamond bracelets. She was quite literally dripping in diamonds on her wrists (over 100 carats). It was amazing.

4.  Samantha Barks

Let us just preface #4 with the fact that this was a toss up. We really could have chosen Jenna Dewan Tatum’s gorgeous one of a kind opal and diamond earrings, but the way that Samantha’s necklace completed her entire look pushed us over the edge. This incredible House of Waris for Forevermark pendant in yellow gold with an oval diamond made her gown. Now that’s a contender for Best Jewelry!

3. Jennifer Garner

Jennifer Garner stunned last night in a gorgeous amethyst Gucci Gown. She brought the color and we loved it. But her blackened platinum and diamond Neil Lane necklace had us staring at her neck all night. In combination with her earrings and bracelet, the suite weighed in at 200+ carats and more than $2.5 million.

2. Anne Hathaway

Disclaimer: This is a jewelry best dressed. And Anne’s apron dress, the result of a last minute wardrobe change, is quintessential Prada, intense darting and all. We think she was going for a Gwyneth moment in the pale pink, but let’s leave the light pink to Jennifer Lawrence, k? We wish we could have seen the Valentino intended for Anne’s Tiffany jewels, but her Tiffany & Co. corsage necklace, worn backwards, managed to steal the show. She also added a platinum and diamond wide bracelet and Lucida earrings from the 2013 Blue Book collection to round out her look.

1. Jennifer Lawrence

Our girl, J. Law, quite literally America’s sweetheart, could trip up those Oscar steps every day and we wouldn’t love her any less. While her Dior gown was polarizing, we’re firmly on the supporting side. Jennifer is a fan of the mid-bust neckline, and the fitted silhouette that was really more ball gown than mermaid looked perfect on her body. Everything from the texture to the color was pitch perfect, and Jennifer’s jewels stopped us in our tracks. Starting with the ideal updo to show off her massive Chopard drop earrings – reportedly 12 carats set in another 11 carats of rose cut accent stones. Jennifer also added a 5 carat diamond band and an 8 carat diamond floral ring. But the centerpiece, the crowning jewel and the reason every woman you’ve seen today is wearing her necklace backwards: a 74 carat diamond bead necklace dripping down her back. Magnifique. And while technically 3’s a trend, the two biggest actresses in Hollywood last night had one thing in common: the backlace.
