Nixon Star Wars Watch: The Force Awakens

Nixon Star Wars Watches

May the 4th be with you! Star Wars lovers worldwide are donning their Leia buns and carrying their light sabers to celebrate Star Wars Day. This year though, the celebrations are jubilant enough to mimic the cantina, with the release of the newest Star Wars quickly approaching. The 7th installment (Episode VII The Force Awakens) is due in theaters December 18th. It’s been 10 years since the last live action Star Wars film debuted, which featured one of the most reviled characters in cinematic history (Jar Jar Binks) and a more…sensitive Darth Vader. That trilogy, the prequels, is widely regarded in certain circles as a travesty, and we they wait anxiously to see if the newest installment can return to the original epic magic of a galaxy far far away.

Odds are good, considering the hefty star power of the cast, and the return of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. Today, Vanity Fair revealed the other principal characters, played by Adam Driver, Lupita Nyongo, and Oscar Isaac, along with Daisy Ridley. The air is abuzz with Star Wars fever, and the best way to celebrate any moment in cultural zeitgeist is with a limited edition watch.

Surprisingly, we are not talking about a Royal Oak Offshore Tatooine Edition or a Big Bang Death Star. No, it’s the California based Nixon watches spearheading the hottest collector’s item this side of Alderaan.

STAR WARS ™ | Nixon Collection from Nixon on Vimeo.

The Nixon Star Wars watches will revolve around the Dark Side with four models: the Stormtrooper, Imperial Pilot, Darth Vader, and Boba Fett. It’s always darkest before the dawn, and the first title of the new trilogy suggests that the force has been sleeping – there’s a reason it’s the titular Awake. So we can only imagine that Nixon will create another collection with models designed to reflect the Jedi aesthetic with subsequent films.
