First Lady Michelle Obama has discovered a new accessories designer to adorn her with one of a kind jewelry. Kara Ross, a 20-year veteran of the jewelry business was called in for an interesting assignment last year. Ross said, “The Chief of Protocols’ office saw we did wood jewelry, and they wanted to have some things made by an American artist for Michelle Obama to give to visiting heads of state. They sent us this big chunk of wood from the White House lawn. We made some pieces with it and on each one we wrote, ‘Designed Exclusively for Michelle Obama by Kara Ross.'”
Ross added, “I thought, ‘How great, with a visiting head of state, giving them a gift by a) an American artist and b) it’s literally a piece that originated from the White House.’ I thought it was awesome that they even thought of me, to be honest with you.”
Michele Obamaa First Lady of the United States is not just doling out the jewelry designed by Kara Ross made from White House reclaimed wood. She’s also wearing them. Since November, 2012, Michelle has been spotted and photographed wearing jewelry items from Kara’s Gemstone jewelry collection at least six times, including at the State of the Union Address.
Michelle Obama Pearl Signature
Usually, Michelle Obama prefers her all time favorite ever, pearl jewelry, be it choker, dangling, sweetheart neckline, multi strands or layered. That fashion has become her signature look.
However, Michelle Obama donned something different at the Inauguration festivities. Two ultra chic diamond bangles by an L.A.-based jeweler , Kimberly McDonald, who is a favorite of many celebrities on the red carpet.
For the Innauguration jewelry, McDonald used Forevermark diamonds by Trau Bros. and set the two bangles in 18-karat oxidized gold. The gold warmth counteracts the cool fire of the diamonds.
Kimberly McDonald’s jewelry is often made from geode crystals, and is known to be collected by Jennifer Aniston, Sandra Bullock and Julia Roberts. Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer have both worn McDonald jewelry for major red carpet awards shows.
Another Michelle Obama favorite and favored jewelry designer is traditional rebel Rhjana Khan, who is known for her bold, large and colorful jewelry, a different look for the First Lady, who admits she buys what she likes, not what is necessarily high fashion.
David Joseph and Miriam Sadat credit a muse who traveled across the Sahara desert as their inspiration for Bochic, their collection of designer, one of a kind jewelry. Michelle Obama has favored their designs and has been photographed often wearing Bochic jewelry. The accessories are also bold, and sometimes even stark with a great deal of black and white in their designs. Celebrities have collected Bochic designs and worn them for red carpet events.
