McLaren Exclusive VIP Event at Diamonds by Raymond Lee | Recap
How does exclusively piloting McLaren supercar technology sound to you? Like the McLaren 570S Spider & the New McLaren 600LT? It probably sounds pretty badass…that’s because it is.
This past weekend (November 10th, 2018), a select few VIP members of Diamonds by Raymond Lee got to preview the new McLaren 600LT, and test drive the flagship vehicle of their Sports Series, the 570S Spider, here at our retail jewelry store in Boca Raton.

The purpose of this invite-only event was to give VIP members an exclusive preview of the McLaren Sports Series. Each member, alongside a McLaren Product Advocate, took a McLaren 570S Spider for a 30-minute test drive on the open road.
They were able to feel the sheer power of the 570S and learn more about what makes this supercar so special. The McLaren Sports Series is bound to cutting-edge technology and revolutionary engineering, and nothing beats witnessing this firsthand. Furthermore, the event gave our VIP members the chance to mingle with McLaren and pick their brains about the cars.
The McLaren 570S Spider wasn’t the only supercar that members were able to get their hands on. McLaren also revealed their brand-new 600LT, which is the fastest car and alpha of the McLaren Sports Series pack. The 600 LT is so new that it isn’t for sale and no dealers have them yet, so it was really cool to be able to preview this car in person. For exotic car lovers like us, it’s a fun experience to be one of the first people in the world to preview technological innovations of this breadth.
Why Did McLaren team up with Diamonds by Raymond Lee?
McLaren approached us, Diamonds by Raymond Lee, for a few reasons. Firstly, we are very active in the car community in South Florida, as you may know from our monthly Boca car show called Diamonds and Donuts.
Moreover, many of our clients are, put simply, ballers. They buy fine luxury jewelry and they ride in style in exotics around the streets of South Florida. These same people are more than our clients, though, they are our friends and we value our relationship with them on more than just a business level. These are people with the same interests as us.
Knowing that we, and our clients, would be interested in this, McLaren’s marketing firm came to us and asked if we would be willing to host a Test Drive event for the brand. The answer was an absolutely, appreciative and emphatic YES. Of course, we were all for giving our members a local, VIP experience with the elite global company that is McLaren.
Making waves in the auto industry
McLaren has been making waves in the auto industry over the last two decades for producing some of the best street-legal sports cars the world has to offer. The chance to experience the new 600LT with our closest clients had us super excited. We all have a deep love for revolutionary supercars.
McLaren of Palm Beach is the closest dealer in the area; so they brought team leaders from their local dealership to work with our clients during the event. We were also lucky and grateful that McLaren’s top marketers and executives came to the event as well. No one knows McLaren like…well, McLaren.
We had three fantastic 570S Spiders to test-drive for the day. Additionally, we got up close and personal with the new McLaren 600LT, which not many people have yet to lay their eyes on. And, what made it even better was…it was completely private.

In the end, thanks to McLaren, we are left with a memory that will last a lifetime. And that is saying a lot for individuals who experience amazing products and cars on a regular basis.
Now, let’s talk details….
McLaren 570S Spider
The McLaren 570S Spider has a 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 engine, and it generates 570PS (or 562bhp); hence its name, the 570S. The 570S Spider reaches a top speed of 204mph and goes 0-62mph in a swift 3.2 seconds. The 570S Spider has a retractable roof, and you can lower it at speeds up to 25mph. If you decide to go convertible, it has a top speed 195mph with the roof down.
The McLaren 570S’s V8 engine runs via a seven-speed, “seamless shift” dual clutch auto gearbox, and has a power-to-weight ratio of 375bhp per ton. This grants the supercar its ability to whisk from 0-124mph in a sheer 10 seconds. The 570S Spider is priced at just over 200k USD, which is around 200k less than the 675LT Spider, and $120k less than the 650S Spider, making it more “affordable”.
McLaren’s 570S is the flagship vehicle for their Sports Series and it is undeniably powerful, fun and super sexy.

McLaren 600LT
Presenting McLaren’s ultimate “entry-level” supercar, as they refer to it, the Mclaren 600LT. The LT, which stands for Longtail, carries a distinct rear wing and further improves upon the outstanding driving capability of the 570S.
It is a rocket ship on the track thanks to its high tech use of carbon fiber in the aesthetics and its forceful twin-turbo V-8 engine.
The McLaren 600LT’s price will be $250,000, and as you would expect from a quarter-million-dollar vehicle, it offers an unparalleled attention-grabbing appearance and jaw-dropping driving performance. We were utterly thrilled to be able to preview the McLaren 600LT in person this past weekend at our private event with McLaren.
When it comes to speed, the McLaren 600LT is EXTREME. It’s the fastest, most powerful, road legal Sports Series in the history of McLaren.
It does 0-62 in 2.9 seconds (yikes) and 124mph in 8.2 seconds (incredible, yes). Its top speed is 204mph and it does a standing quarter in a rapid, skin pulling 10.2 seconds.
The Apex of The McLaren Sport Series
It’s the apex of McLaren’s Sports Series lineup. Some would call it the better-looking, fitter cousin of the 570S. It’s 96kg lighter than the 570S. Furthermore, it’s made with 23 percent new parts. Super innovative. Thanks, McLaren.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the changes. The engine was gifted with new camshafts and a freshly tuned ECU, which boosts it by 30bhp. It had 30 kilos removed from the wheels, tires, brakes and aluminum suspension. Additionally, the uprights from the 720s are in place, the dampers recalibrated, and the track is wider and the riding height is lower.
In fact, it is the longer, leaner causing too – Can you say, “Longtail?” It is 74mm longer, thanks to the rear diffuser and front splitter being drawn-out to increase downforce. Add that up, plus a new rear wing, and you have 100kg of downforce at 155mph. That might not seem exceptionally impressive, but downforce isn’t the main focus for the 600LT, handling control and conciseness is. Nevertheless, it all factors in perfectly.
“Longtail”
McLaren has only given the Longtail (LT) name to four McLarens in the past two decades. And the 600LT is the epitome of the “Longtail”.
Its purpose, in McLaren’s own words, is to be “United by the same singular focus. To push performance and driving to the absolute edge.”
Let’s talk a bit about McLaren for those who may not be familiar with all the details of this magnificent company.
The McLaren Group
The McLaren Group is famous around the world, known as the cutting edge brand for F1 racing and high-performance sports cars.
McLaren Group is a conglomerate with three subsidiaries: McLaren Applied Technologies, McLaren Automotive, and McLaren Racing.
Formed in 1963, McLaren Racing is one of the most competitive, revolutionary and inventive racing teams in Formula 1. McLaren was the first company to use carbon fiber in the engineering of their racing cars. Their MP4/1 was the first car to implement a carbon fiber design. This offered increasing levels of rigidness and safety for the driver during F1 races. McLaren is a pioneer in the world of Formula 1, taking part in 180 races and winning 20 World Championships. Furthermore, McLaren proudly represents the most successful marque in the history of F1 racing.
After succeeding and becoming an expert, world-renowned racing brand, the McLaren Group expanded their company with a new business, McLaren Automotive.
McLaren Automotive offers some of the best performance sports cars on the planet. However, creating high-performance supercars wasn’t enough for the ambitious McLaren Group. The Group also began McLaren Applied Technologies, which is a groundbreaking technology business.
As the company has grown over the last few decades, their mission has stayed the same. Here is a quote from McLaren on their goal for everything they set out to create:

Since we have a passion for cars, and many people we see day to day do too, we naturally are active in the car community.
In April 2017, we took our passion for cars and started what is now one of the best car shows in Boca Raton – Diamonds and Donuts Car Show. The purpose of our car show is to connect the magnificence of collector and exotic cars with luxury diamond jewelry and watches.
The end goal for every car show we put on, which we do monthly, is raising money for local causes while simultaneously having a great time.
