Luxury Watches Inspired by Luxury Automobiles

Perhaps it’s because both appeal to the successful and to the driven. Perhaps it’s that both are precision instruments or because timing is important to each. Whatever the reason, luxury watches and luxury automobiles have had a relationship for decades. Watches have long taken inspiration from performance and high end automobiles and the tradition continues to this day. While performance automobiles may be more about status than transportation, luxury watches are more a piece of jewelry than a timepiece. Both provide value beyond their obvious purpose.

TAG Heuer Carrera

The TAG Heuer Carrera is inspired from the Porsche Carrera. Pictured above is a men’s Swiss automatic chronograph Carrera with a stainless steel bracelet. Carrera is the Spanish definition for run or race. This preowned TAG Heuer is available at Raymond Lee Jewelers for $2,395.

The Breitling Flying B

British carmaker Bentley’s “Winged B” teams with Breitling’s “Flying B” in this luxury watch maker’s creation. Bentley’s tradition is carried through to the watchmaker’s styling in the Flying B. Look for prices above $6,000.

Ralph Lauren Sporting Watch

This watch was inspired from the classic Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic. It picks up detail of the elm burl wood and instrument dials from dashboard of the Bugatti. $13,000.

Aston Martin AMVOX2

This watch was designed by automaker Aston Martin with Jeager-LeCoultre. The watch was made exclusively for Aston Martin owners. It cotains a miniature transmitter that locks and unlocks the doors of the Aston Martin DBS sports car when pressure is applied to the watch face.

TAG Heuer SLR

The TAG Heuer was designed as a salute to one of the fastest production cars ever built, the Mercedes-Benz SLR. The movement combines the best of quartz, automatic, and chronograph mechanisms. A nice touch for owner’s of a Mercedes-Benz. These models range from $2,500 to $5,000.
