Best of 2012 Emmy Jewelry
Last night we joined in with the rest of the jewelry industry to live tweet the Emmy’s red carpet expecting an abundance of fabulous jewels. Well, it wasn’t the Oscars, and with nary a necklace in sight, the stars stuck to a major theme: statement earrings. We also saw our fair share of fabulous statement rings, an uptick in Deco or Deco-inspired pieces, and plenty of emeralds – which we always love! And yes, the majority of ladies played it safe with sparkling studs. Yes, Fred, Lorraine and Neil ruled the red carpet. And yes, Ryan seemed to purposely avoid asking stars about their jewelry (blasphemy). But a smattering of stars dropped some new names (hello Rona Pfeiffer!) and a few chose to stand out in a sea of studs (and a sea of seafoam) – these are our favorite moments in Emmy jewelry!
Ginnifer Goodwin Makes a Statement
We spotted Ginnifer a mile away, in a very good way. While her intricate Monique Lhullier couture gown took our breath away (and her Louboutins…and her Ferragamo clutch) her Rona Pfeiffer jewelry held its own. This was the first time we’d heard Rona’s name but we’re sure she’ll explode onto the scene after Ginnifer showed off her completely unique jewels – those earrings are one of a kind, and that dress needed them. A Retro Dome ring also by Rona and Graziela stacked rings finish out the look.
VanCamp is Perfection in Van Cleef
Our favorite Revenge star looks as classically beautiful as ever in dove gray J. Mendel gown. The soft pleats and tulle don’t veer fairy princess (unlike some other gowns…) thanks to Emily’s sultry smoky eye and illusion deep v neckline. Van Cleef and Arpels jewels pair perfectly with this gown, and Emily’s diamond bow cuff was the first big moment of the red carpet. Her diamond pointer finger ring and flower earrings rounded out this great, simple and lovely look.
Julie Bowen Slices & Ices
The Emmy winner wowed in some major slice earrings (pay no attention to the hair.) The Bochic sapphire and diamond slices framed her face beautifully, proving that huge drops are here to stay. Nicole Kidman even donned a similar pair of carved lavender jade and diamond Fred Leighton earrings.
Julianna Margulies’ Vintage Inspired Perfection
Julianna Margulies earrings looked incredible in her Giambattista Valli floral gown, channeling 50’s couture and very Grace Kelly. She paired the gorgeous gown with some 19th century amethyst and yellow gold Fred Leighton earrings – magnifique!
Sofia Vergara Channels Sofia Vergara
Sofia couldn’t look more Sofia if she tried. In a mermaid gown that looked straight up from under the sea, Sofia drew attention to every last curve with beautiful jet beading and strategically placed cutouts. And continuing with the More is More sentiment, Sofia piled on the diamonds. Neil Lane platinum and diamond bracelets (110 carats) layered for an arm party, Deco inspired massive drop earrings weighing in at 45 carats, a 20 carat diamond and platinum pointer finger ring with two center diamonds and (of course) Sofia’s jaw-dropping engagement ring rounded out the most wow outfit from the Emmy’s.
Lucy Liu Returns
Lucy, where have you been? Welcome back, in fierce full force and head to toe sequins. Lucy’s dress fit like a glove and unlike other fabulous glittery gowned stars, Lucy didn’t skimp on the sparkle where it counts – the jewels! Lucy rocked 30 carat diamond and platinum studs and a platinum, diamond and rock crystal cocktail ring by Lorraine Schwartz. She owned the red carpet. Seriously, she got us to add studs to a best jewelry list. That’s talent.
Leslie Mann Has Some Fun
Leslie Mann has one of the most consistently great red carpet careers out there. She always manages to strike a perfect balance between fun and elegant while showing off her personality in addition tot he hottest designer gowns. Last night she looked beautiful in a playful Naeem Kahn gown (with pockets!) in one of the breakout colors of the Emmy’s. She also gave us some very fun turquoise jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz, turning out one of the best looks of the night.
Jane Krakowski’s Emerald Ring
Thank you, E! for the best thing to happen to Emmy jewelry since Cartier – the Manicam. This handy little close upon stars’ “manicures” happened to get us up close and personal with jaw dropping rings like Jane’s. Her Lorraine Schwartz platinum, onyx, diamond and emerald cabochon cocktail ring took our breath away! And while her hair obscured her earrings, they boasted platinum and emeralds too.
Heidi Strikes a Pose
Unfortunately it’s already trademarked by Angelina Jolie, but we’ll let it slide. Heidi decided to match everything on her to her Alex Vauthier gown, complete with thigh-high (or Ryan-Seacrest’s-chest-high slits). Her Charlotte Olympia heels, Judith Leiber Clutch and Lorraine Schwartz jewels (those earrings!) also complied.
