Creative Christmas Proposal Ideas
We just love a good proposal story. So much so that we often day dream up our own. And with charming grooms swarming our bridal cases (and our Facebook newsfeeds lighting up with good news of holiday engagements), our minds are on christmas proposal ideas. Something about the most magical time of the year makes it the perfect time to propose, and luckily, all the seasonal festivities lend themselves perfectly to magical holiday proposals.
A Snowy Proposal
Your lady has seen this image on Pinterest. She thinks it’s perfect. Take advantage of flurries, and take her into the cold to warm her heart. If it doesn’t snow where you are (hello local grooms to be), get creative. A man-made snow shower proves even more that you’ll do whatever it takes to make her dream come true. If this proposal sounds like your girl, then this is the ring for you:
A Christmas Tree Proposal
Trimming the tree is one of our favorite Christmas traditions. Put on some Christmas music, pull out the tinsel, and pour yourselves some hot chocolate. Introduce a few new ornaments to your collection this year – include meaningful baubles like cities that are special to you, her favorite animal, inside jokes, her favorite colors, anything you think will be special. Pier 1 and Pottery Barnare two great ornament sources. Have her open them one by one, and save the one above for last. When she turns around to hang it on your tree, drop to one knee and present her with this:
A Christmas Carol Proposal
Want to knock her socks off with an out of the blue holiday proposal? There are two ways to work this. If you live somewhere where neighbors go caroling, perfect. You can ask your neighbors, church members, or whoever you know to make a special stop at your door. They can begin their usual caroling with traditional holiday fare, before segueing into something a little more unique: your song. If you think a friendly singing mob on your doorstep would be a cause for alarm or suspicion, then you go to plan B. Check your community calendar for tree lightings, holiday parades, or special events at the mall. Some kind of singing group will be in attendance, we promise. It’s your mission to find them, and convince them with charm, bribery or cookies (in the case of a children’s choir) to perform an impromptu rendition of your song at said event. Bring your lovely intended to listen, and in either case, you can join in the song, or simply drop to one knee to ask for her hand. As soon as she realizes what’s going on, give her this:
Home for the Holidays Proposal
This holiday proposal idea is perfect if your girl is flying in to be with you or the family for Christmas. If she knows you’ll be meeting her, tell her you’ve got plans right after you pick her up, be it dinner, shopping, or a holiday party, so she doesn’t plan to wear Uggs and sweatpants and a ponytail (she’ll want to look nice). If she doesn’t think you’ll be there, have her best friend make these faux plans, you’ll need to recruit teammates anyway. Have her family members, friends, or your groomsmen help you out by holding arrival signs at baggage claim. Instead of her name, have each individual person’s sign say Will, You, Marry, with you holding “Me”. This is the clincher: have a photographer ready to capture the whole thing. You’ve already ensured she’ll be traveling in style, and airport crowds will easily hide a photographer. Every girl would cherish the photos of her engagement, and this little detail makes all the difference – same goes for this ring:
Other Christmas proposal ideas include a cozy carriage ride, anything incorporating All I Want for Christmas is You, puppies with a ring tied to the collar (only if she wants a dog and use a dummy ring on the pup), and a classic Christmas morning unwrapping. Regardless, it’s sure to be her favorite gift ever.
