Boca’s Best Car Meet – Diamonds and Donuts Car Show (Jan 2019)
South Florida’s Hottest Car Meet: Diamonds and Donuts Car Show in Boca Raton – Recap from January 27, 2019.
It was a rainy day here in South Florida this past Sunday but that didn’t stop Diamonds and Donuts from doing what they do best, putting on a show with the hottest cars and gals in the southern tip of Florida. While all other events in the area were canceled, with the exception of Prestige Import’s Ride to Revive on homestead speedway, the Diamonds and Donuts car show held firm to the cause and keep the doors open and the rain in check…no point in a raincheck when we do this every month!
Although our Boca car show wasn’t nearly as packed as it usually is on a sunny day, we do have some memorable highlights to share this month.
Besides a range of exotics, classics, and muscle cars showing up, we had the presence of a Giant and a couple Dolphins. And even though the Giant on scene could squash you, and the Dolphins could make a grown man say “eee eee”, we aren’t being literal here, we are talking an NFL star player’s new Jeep and Miami Dolphins’ cheerleaders, respectively.
As you can see here, we had to take the party inside as it was raining the entire time. It was a good time nonetheless.
In this Diamonds and Donuts recap, we are going to feature some new vehicles that made their first appearance to our Diamonds and Donuts car show. We are going to discuss the charitable contribution for which we put all this together. And, we are going to tell you more about Diamonds and Donuts, Boca Raton’s Hottest Car Show.
Remember, we do this every month. So, be ready for the next (fingers crossed that the sun is shining bright like our diamonds do).
Now, let’s take a victory lap.
Here are a few of the stunners that showed up today and everything you need to know about them…
1989 Lotus Esprit
Lotus Esprit is a UK sports car that was produced from 1976 to 2004. The Lotus Esprit is the fastest production Lotus ever made. This 1989 Lotus Esprit has a small block Chevy V8 swap that produces over 500hp. A swap of this breed is not a small job, but it’s well worth the time it takes as the performance benefits are outrageous. The power of @thefuellord‘s Lotus is stunning, stomping on the stock Esprit SE’s 0-60 test sprint of 4.5 seconds or the quarter mile’s 12.9 sec. That’s saying a lot too.
The red color, which has been completely repainted, is a classic choice from the late 80s production period of the Lotus Esprit. The 1989 Lotus Esprit is a dream car for many kids growing up in the 80s and 90s. It’s an all-around excellent automobile and a true sports car at its very nature. The handling and performance are what you would expect it to be, after all, this is one of the most celebrated and coveted iconic brands across the globe.
This Lotus Esprit, with its powerful upgrade, demands your complete attention because it is extremely forceful. But not to worry, the handling is sublime.
To top it all off, this Lotus Esprit is in mintier than mint condition, and the interior is original no less! It is scratch-free, tear-free, and everything-else-that-you wouldn’t-want-free.
At the height of the Lotus Esprit, it could rival any Ferrari and Lamborghini, and it was around half the price.
Economical pricing met performance in the form of a Lotus, those who knew cars were smart enough to jump on it.
It was a pleasure exploring and enjoying the company of this beauty.
2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
This four-door Jeep Rubicon belongs to NFL player John Jenkins of the New York Giants.
Let’s breakdown this bad boy. We are talking about the vehicle, not the talented Mr. Jenkins himself.
The newly redesigned Jeep Wrangler is smarter than ever and even more rugged.
If you aren’t a well-informed Jeep Wrangler enthusiast, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon might appear as simply another Jeep Wrangler.
But you’d be wrong.
The 2018 Rubicon is an exhaustive redesign of the Wrangler and the first of this degree in over a decade.
There are serious improvements to the aerodynamics. They boost its visibility using a lower beltline with bigger windows. They gave it a half-inch lift, axle upgrades, power dome hood, black fender flares and premium off-road rock rails with tread plate.
And, that’s just the start of its many additional modernizations to its appearance and design. Open up the doors to this beast and you’ll see all types of newness showing its face.
To contrast the vicious exterior, the interior offers the bravado of prestige, style, and luxury. It’s clear that Jeep wanted the driver and passengers to feel in good care. Between the heated leather-trimmed seats, auto temp control, and and the advanced connectivity suite, it’s hard to say what’s more enjoyable, roughing it through nature’s 4×4 setting or simply enjoying the ride from the comfort of the Rubicon’s inside. That is unless you want to get wild and pull the top down and take the doors off 😉
In the city for the day between meetings? You could pull a laptop out and turn the interior into your office for the day without any complaints.
Performance wise, it has a respectable 0-60 in 7.4 seconds thanks to it’s V6 3.6 liter Pentastar engine. Furthermore, it has 285hp at 6400 and kicks out 260 pounds per feet of torque for outrageous low-speed crawl capability.
It has a standard mpg of 16 through the city and 21 on the highway. The drivetrain is, of course, a 4WD, tackling rain, sleet, snow, rock, and sand all the same.
Moreover, and most importantly in this day in age, the price to value ratio is excellent. At around $39,000 MSRP, you can’t beat the value and safety it provides.
Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R
Another classic rolled through, it was the Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R. This R32 is fully built, however, according to anyone who knows the definition of ‘fully built’ and the words of the owner @importzilla himself – “Project is never finished but stronger than ever!” This incredible vehicle is likely to be going under the knife again sooner or later. Gotta love project cars.
The Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R featured here is a manual with a staged unsprung racing clutch. Its eyebrow-raising performance takes it from 0-62mph in 5.6sec and it reaches a top speed of 156mph, as far as we know.
Moreover, it has firepower that competes with other state-of-the-art cars of its time, such as the BMW E30 M3 and Porsche 911 Turbo.
To put it simply, this sports car is a freak in the streets.
Let’s talk about its history.
Firstly, if you don’t know, the Nissan Skyline GT-R is a Japanese sports car and the GT-R stands for Gran Turismo Racer.
The first productions of the Skyline GT-R were from 1969 to 1972, after which the company took a 16-year hiatus from producing another GT-R. 1989 was the rebirth of the GT-R, and it was revived as the R32 which you see here.
This model went on to win the Japanese JTCC Group A series racing championship for three years in a row. It also made great success in the Australian Touring Car Championship, taking the W in 1991 and 1992. In 1993, some regulation changes were made and the GT-R was excluded from racing, so the major feats end there.
The R32 GT-R got its nickname Godzilla thanks to the Australian Motoring Publication back in July of 1989. It’s a well-deserving nickname, to say the least. It showcases a lot of top-notch technologies, such as the ATTESA E-TS All Wheel Drive, Super HICAS four-wheel steering, and still today it’s a massively popular and coveted car for drag racing, circuit tracks, timed laps, and other events for tuning magazines.
The car soul rests in its 2.6-liter in-line six DOHC twin turbo engine, which creates 276bhp and 260 pounds to feet of torque, when tuning like the one in this feature, it has an attainable 1,000bhp! Even more impressive is its boast-worthy heady red line potential of 8,000rmp.
The last production of the Skyline GT-R was in 2002. It was succeeded by the Nissan R35 GT-R, which amazingly enough also showed up at Diamonds and Donuts this past Sunday.
2016 R35
The R35 Nissan GT-R is one of Nissan’s finest creations, if not the finest. But what do you get when you combine an already incredible, awe-inspiring stock production speed with a pro tune-up and modification? You get a legendary boost to 750hp and top speeds that most roads and people just aren’t ready for.
This car will battle, neck and neck, with cars twice its price. Its 3.8 liter V6 engine reaches top speeds over 190mph and it does 0-62mph in a jaw-dropping, neck breaking, heart thumping 2.9 seconds, time and time again. It’s more like a rocket ship for the road than a car. Beyond the performance, the car is an absolute head turner and the electronics in it are enough to boggle anyone’s mind.
We hope to see this R35 at the next show when we have a bigger crowd, we know the people want and need to see this dream missile of a car.
The Squat Queen – Janeece Sinclair
Model in the car is @squatqueenjaneece
We had the pleasure of being in the company of Janeece Sinclair again last week. You’ll find Janeece at most of our Diamonds and Donuts car shows. If you don’t know who she is, Janeece is an American fitness model and athlete known for having a super lean and toned physique, with her glutes being a hard-earned and major asset.
She’s an all-around stunning and intelligent individual. Janeece has won fitness shows and competitions like Fitness Universe Miss Bikini, amongst others, and has surmounted a large following on Instagram, which is currently around 100k. You should definitely check her out, she’s incredibly inspirational.
Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders
We were honored to have the presence of two Miami Dolphins cheerleaders at our Boca Car Show – Anna Niki and Ally Rahn.
The two cheerleaders came out to sign autographs and help us raise money for our charity of the month.
Anna Niki is a rookie cheerleader and she’s from Naples, Italy. She has an exciting career ahead of her. Be sure to follow her on her amazing journey via Instagram (pictured left).
Ally Rahn (pictured right) just finished her third year as a pro cheerleader and she is from Bradenton, Florida. Follow her on Insta, she has a nice following and always posts top notch pictures.
Charitable Contribution For This Months Car Meet – Boca Raton Police Foundation
This month we raised money for the Boca Raton Police Foundation.
Here is their mission: “The Boca Raton Police Foundation exists to support the Boca Raton Police Department through the acceptance, management, and disbursement of tax-deductible gifts and contributions to enhance the safety of our community and the effectiveness of our Police Department.”
We are thrilled to support and be a part of their cause.
We plan on raising more contributions and recognition for the Boca Raton Police Foundation at future Diamonds and Donuts car shows.
