Wedding Color Trends

Today's earlier burgundy and rose gold wedding color palette got us thinking: how long has the wedding color palette been a thing? We know that engagement rings have been around since ancient Roman times in the form of iron bands. It wasn't until De Beers came a long that diamonds became the gem du jour for bridal jewelry. We know that emerald was the color of the year for 2013 and, truth be told, we loved it so much more for weddings than we did Tangerine Tango. The addition of metallics of all kinds is obviously one of our favorite wedding trends, as is the perennial classic black and white. But exactly when did the color palette become a huge, imperative and primary step in the wedding planning process? We can't be sure, but this fun infographic explains the hottest wedding color trends over the last 15 years. From the pastels of the 90's to the bold primary color wheel opposites of the early aughts (robin's egg blue and chocolate brown, anyone?) wedding color palettes have a come a long way. And with the colors of the big day playing such a large role in setting the tone of the entire wedding, some brides are even matching the palette to their engagement rings. But whether you rock a sapphire and diamond engagement ring or you simply love the color combo of bronze and burnt orange paired with a tropical beach setting, a pop of color is nearly always welcome in a fabulous wedding.
