Aisle Style: Pleated Wedding Dresses
Pleated wedding dresses are a funk fashion statement perfect for the avant garde bride. When lace or rosettes just won't do, the pleats on a wedding dress provide texture and interest with a focus on geometric lines. This accent naturally lends itself to vintage style dresses, particularly 20's style wedding dresses all the rage in 2013 (and 2014) thanks to a renaissance of Gatbsy style. What Duchess Catherine did for sleeves, Daisy Buchanan is doing for vintage style wedding dresses - and especially pleats.

Catherine Deane can always be counted on to make us swoon with her draping, but this gorgeous dress really takes our breath away. Also issued in emerald green and rich burgundy, the taupe version of this gown is gorgeous for a wedding. We love the deep illusion v neck, the touch of lightly embroidered lace, and the satin belt that accentuated the waist. A gorgeous gown on any bride, we do love the way Shopbop styled this model with loose hair (keeps it from looking dated) and minimal jewelry (though we'd add a platinum and sapphire antique bracelet). The best part? This gorgeous wedding dress is under $1000 - ringing up at $840. We've been to weddings where the centerpieces cost that much!
Pronovias Fasian
Where the Deane dress brings pleats into the 21st century, this Pronovias wedding dress definitely takes us back several decades. Chiffon pleats spill from a bejeweled straight strapless neckline before blousing at an embellished drop waist. The skirt continues the same long lines of pleats to create a gorgeous, statuesque silhouette. This dress is amazing for tall brides.
BHLDN Pleated Fantasy
Anthropologie's bridal sister store BHLDN is perfect for the bride whose ideal "trapped in the mall overnight store" is the home of Volcano candles and more kitschy aprons than you can shake a hand painted rainstick at. BHLDN carefully curates a mix of vintage inspired, fashion forward, and architecturally gorgeous gowns and accessories, and this grey wedding dress covered in pleats is no exception. It's from a few seasons ago, so scouring pre owned wedding dress sites is a fabulous way to find it - for way less than retail.
Jenny Yoo Vivienne
Jenny Yoo's gorgeous Vivienne gown is a beautiful, classic take on the pleated wedding gown. With soft chiffon pleats, it's a more subtle version with a snow white overlay, bateau neckline and center-focused vertical pleats that fans out into an a-line skirt, making the Vivienne an extremely flattering gown for virtually any bride. Imagine this gown with major statement earrings. Think our rose gold and yellow diamond danglers, or even a pop of fancy yellow three stone drops to add an added layer of elegance.
