The Best Wedding Invitations of 2013
We could spend hours on Pinterest obsessing over all things wedding. While we're firmly entrenched in the diamond world over here (no complaints) we can't help but imagine the perfect dress, wedding invitations, flowers, color palettes and more that would pair with the right engagement ring. After all, that's where it all begins! After you say "yes" you begin the journey to "I do" and in between there's plenty of inspiration to be found and devoured. And with 2013 quickly coming to an end (we're half way through October, how did that happen!?) we're looking back at the best wedding invitations of 2013. We use the term loosely - some of these weddings didn't even go down this year, we just happened to find the invitations in the last 10 months. And we're so glad we did. From die cut art to the most impeccable calligraphy, amazing use of glitter (both real and screen printed) and of course those invitations that completely step away from the norm are what knocked our socks off this year. We can't wait to see what next year brings.
This couple incorporated so many of our favorite 2013 wedding invitation trends. First, let's discuss those save the dates. How cute is the hand cutout with the brides sparkling engagement ring represented by a star? We love this first introduction of the star motif, along with the very on trend grey nail polish, and the retro script. The Deco cutout overlay on the invitation itself is what seals the deal on our love affair.
This beautiful wedding invitation incorporates lovely coral, black and white, a sweet dot motif, and watercolor peonies. What more could you ask for? Well, how about some gorgeous calligraphy that perfectly coordinates with the chalkboard motif also used throughout the wedding?
These modern purple invites by Shine show off varying shades of the royal color and boast a modern big logo. It's easy to be distracted by the bold typography and beautiful script on the band, but we beg you to check out the sleek, modern typeface used for the body of the invites. Little details like how well the three fonts play together make this gorgeous.
For a seaside wedding (or just one that utilizes this serene color palette) we love this paper suite by Hammerpress. The bold fonts keep this set contemporary and modern, even while the color palette lures you into a true blue wedding bash. It's a perfect match.
