2016 Engagement Ring Trends

2015 had plenty of memorable engagement ring moments - most of which we recapped in our countdown to the new year! But 2016 is shaping up to be a banner year for engagement ring trends. At Diamonds by Raymond Lee we're eagerly stocking up on plenty of this year's emerging trends and adding new designs from each of our prestige brands. But what can you look forward to if you're on ring watch this year? Our favorite 2016 engagement ring trends.

Twin Bands

Or triplets. Probably even all the way up to quints and no one will bat an eye. The stack is hotter than ever, and brides are barely waiting for their wedding day to add those beautiful bands of bling to their ring fingers. This means that rings are purchased with future stacking rings in mind, or purchased all together, and sometimes soldered to create one mega ring. Because of this trend, we're seeing brides tend towards engagement rings with thin, delicate shanks that let them mix and match bands to create a totally custom, highly textured look.

Floral Touches

Speaking of texture, milgrain and French beading are beautiful, but flower power takes the crown for 2016. Vines, laurels, and diamond studded buds are welcome additions to the halo style (creating a rose from the center stone) and the wedding band (like a gorgeous, organic wreath of diamonds for your finger) alike.

Built In Spin Protection

With Verragio's Paradiso line, the design serves to add more diamonds and interest to the ring's inner face. However, it also stops the ring from spinning - in a much more attractive way than sizing beads. Look for more of our prestige brands to incorporate this technique!

Colored Metal

2015 was the year of rose gold, and don't expect this perfect complement to the blushing bride to disappear. But, we're seeing a lot more requests for two tone rose gold creations, or the aforementioned stacks combining a traditional white gold or platinum engagement ring with a rose gold wedding band (or two.) Also making a huge comeback: yellow gold! This warm favorite of romantic vintage lovers is back in a big way, and when it's applied to the modern designs of a Tacori or Simon G. setting, it's magical.

PearFection

The pear shaped diamond is back. It never went away for those who love the Graff style settings (huge, premium pear shape in the center, baguettes on the side, minimal platinum setting pleaseandthankyou.) But for brides looking for something fresh, or a standout alternative to the soft square halo, or cushion cut or round brilliant solitaire, the pear shape is the rising star of diamond shapes.
