Alessandra Ambrosio Will Wear the 2012 Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra

If this morning’s post about jaw dropping diamonds didn’t satisfy your craving for bling, perhaps this might be more your speed. Victoria’s Secret announced today that the chosen angle to wear this year’s Fantasy Bra is the one and only Alessandra Ambrosio.

Ambrosio continues the tradition of new mom’s returning to the runway in awesome post-baby shape (Miranda Kerr modeled last year’s Fantasy Bra, and Adriana Lima did the same in 2012, and no one will forget Heidi Klum’s incredible post-baby debut at the Victoria’s Secret Runway Show.)

The 31 year old supermodel was fulfilling Mom duties at the very moment she found out she was chosen, according to People:

“Supermodel Alessandra Ambrósio was sitting home breastfeeding her 3-week-old son Noah when the phone rang and she got the surprise of her life.”

With about a month until she walks in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and rocks the 2012 Fantasy Bra, Ambrosio has lost almost all that baby weight and is fine tuning her body for the runway.

The VS Fashion Show always provides an eyeful of bright and fun costumes, and the Fantasy Bra is the piece de resistance. The tradition began in 1996, when Victoria’s Secret debuted the Million Dollar Miracle Bra in the catalog, touting the brassiere as the ultimate holiday gift.

Every year since then, Victoria’s Secret has contracted with a famed jewelry designer to create a fabulous confection for the chest, studded with precious gems. The most expensive fantasy bra to date was the Red Hot Fantasy Bra, modeled by Gisele Bundchen in 201o. The bra was red satin and featured more than 1,300 stones including 300 carats of Thai rubies. It’s valued at $15 million.

This year, Alessandra Ambrosio will model the Floral Fantasy Bra, which goes for $2.5 million (and you get one of VS’ ubiquitous panty-with-purchase!) The bra features close to 5,200 stones including sapphires, tsavorite, amethysts, rubies and white diamonds, pink diamonds, and yellow diamonds mounted in 18kt yellow and rose gold. It also includes a matching belt that packs an additional 12.5 carat diamond and a 20 carat diamond.

Perhaps this will be the year one of these marvelous bras finds a loving home – not a single Fantasy Bra has sold since its inception in 1996! We’ll see the bra make its debut at the VS Fashion Show on December 4th.
