The story of Audemars Piguet begins in 1875 when twenty three year old watchmaker Jules Audemars and Edward-August Piguet, twenty-one years of age, met in the Vallee de Joux, Switzerland. They were both from Le Brassus, Siwtzerland and both possessed the watchmaker's trade by training at the bench. Jules Audemars found a job producing raw components for watch movements, while Edward-August Piguet found work being a "repasseur" (master watch maker). Shortly after their meeting in 1875, the two talented horologists decided to join forces and founded the firm that would someday come to be known as Audemars, Piguet. From this partnership both men intentionally shifted their focus towards producing top quality, complex, ultra-precise watches. With in a few years the partnership opened a branch office in Geneva, Switzerland where they decided to do all assembling and production in house to insure the highest standards were achieved. Even though Jules Audemars dies in 1918 and Edward-August Piguet died in 1919, their strict high standard has been passed on and is still being adhered to toady. Audemars Piguet remains one of the most prestigious watchmakers in the world and, to this day every watch is still made by hand the old-fashioned way one at a time.
