Favorite Fall Wedding color palette: Burgundy and Rose Gold
Fall is here (kind of) and we’re smitten with all things autumn. We’re currently into rose gold, whether it’s on an antique style engagement ring or a modern eternity band by Tiffany and Co. Nothing complements the warm rich tones of rose gold like a rich burgundy the color of fall leaves, and it just so happens that this particular palette channels two 2013 wedding trends. The jewel toned shade of dark cranberry provides elegance while the sparkly metallic pink gold accents show off a whimsical side that modern brides can’t get enough of. Add custom sequined linens, beautiful calligraphy and pops of pale green succulents to create a modern yet classic look. Rosy uplighting lends a warm and flattering glow to any venue and bridesmaids decked out in berry shades of modern dresses creates a fashionable look for your bridal party no matter what the men are wearing. We do recommend a modern look for the men to set off the stylish tone – think skinny ties from Jack Spade with grey Bonobos suits or classic black tie tuxes with a pop of color in burgundy socks (or custom monogrammed Stubbs and Wooton dress slippers if you’re feeling a generous groomsmen’s gift). We like a rose gold frosted cake with this palette, along with passed mini desserts like teacup creme brulee, or make a haute s’mores bar. This palette, while pretty formal, is actually a great choice for a variety of venues. Dress up a rustic estate like Miami’s Thalatta or Vizcaya, or go for Baroque in one of the Breaker’s magnificent ballrooms. This palette could skew modern (with the right event designer) but we really prefer to let the traditional shine in shades of gilded rose. One exception to the rule? The bride needn’t wear white when a gilded dress is an option. Go forr the gold or bronze when scoping out sparkling wedding gowns, and don’t forget to check Rent the Runway. For a dress you’ll wear only for a few hours, you can’t go wrong borrowing some high end designer creations in shimmering hues and putting the extra cash towards a fabulous honeymoon (or perhaps a rose champagne tower – we won’t judge.) Above all, use this palette to thoroughly indulge in our favorite season!
