Previously recognized by the public as the fun-loving Wide Receiver for the Pittsburg Steelers, Hines Ward adds a new trophy to his mantle, and gains a sizable new fan-base with his Season 12 victory on ' Dancing With The Stars'. Partner, Kym Johnson was praised through a teary eyed thank you from Hines Ward just as their Season 12 'Dancing With The Stars' win was announced.
After sustaining an intense neck injury just two weeks prior to the 'Dancing With The Stars' Season Finale, the Australian Ballroom Dancer (since the age of 3!), Model and Television Actress, Kym Johnson inspired athlete Hines Ward by returning to rehearsals immediately after her release from the Hospital.
After the physical strength and psychological determination of Johnson brought the pair back to the dance floor with a renewed sense of motivation, the two hard-working and lovable athletes went on to receive perfect scores for their performances. This brought tears to the eyes of Ward, which effectively had both Kym Johnson and unusually emotional Judge Carrie Ann Inaba to small bursts of water-works in reaction to his sincere delivery.
"We've had some great footballers on `Dancing With the Stars,' but I don't think any compare with Hines Ward," head judge Len Goodman said during the season finale.
Hines Ward follows several other Professional Athletes which competed on the adored ABC Sitcom, including legendary Boxer Sugar Ray Leonard, Pro Wrestler Chris Jericho and NFL star Emmitt Smith. 'Dancing With The Stars' has evolved into much more than a Reality Show, but a true testament to physical endurance and the ability to perform exceptionally under pressure and often times, in pain.
Ward , a Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver and former Super Bowl most valuable player, credits his professional dance partner, Kym Johnson , with their dance victory. He plans to keep his new mirrorball right next to his Super Bowl trophy.
